BBC BOWLS BROADCAST WEEKEND 23/24th SEPTEMBER

BBC BOWLS BROADCAST SEPTEMBER 23rd/24th    (Terry Norwood in the chair)

Pennants

The Grade Four pennants team travelled to Taralga to take on the ‘Tigers’ to determine who would be the Section  winners. The Taralga bowlers are a seasoned, determined group who know their green well; certainly a recipe for a tough assignment. Unfortunately for the Bowral boys, this trip turned out to be little different from most others. The ‘Tigers’ were too good overall and took four of the five competition points from the match. The one really good outcome for Bowral was the one point victory by the Stephen Day led four; well done Peter, Scott, Dave and Steve. The result means that Taralga are winners of this Section and will progress to the play-off against the other section winner. The Bowral bowlers can be pleased with their season overall as they finished second on the table. The game results at Taralga were:

Peter Cornwell, Scott Kennon, Dave Coltman, Steve Day    21   Vs   Taralga    20

Arnold Lenczuk, Chris Forrester, Ian Crow, Tony Oakes      7    Vs   Taralga    25

Rookie Singles

The Rookie Singles concluded on Sunday with the playing of the semi-finals in the morning and the final in the afternoon. The results of the semis were:

Arnold Lenczuk   21  Vs    Chris Forrester   19

Terry Norwood    21   Vs   Andy Connor    16

After a lunch break and freshen up the final got underway.

The two protagonists, Arnold on the left and Terry!

And the result was:

Arnold Lenczuk   21   Vs   Terry Norwood   18

Congratulations to Arnold who proved to be the most consistent bowler of the competition. In all his matches he seemed to be able to pull a very good shot out of the bag to improve his situation. That was never more evident than in the final when he found himself down 15 – 9 and under pressure. He rallied at that point and was never more than 6 inches from the jack except for one end when he dropped three shots. He won eight of the last nine ends with excellent draw bowling. Well done Arny!

Arny and Terry show their styles from the mat!
