BBC BROADCAST FEBRUARY 24th/25th       (Terry Norwood at the desk)

PENNANTS SATURDAY FEBRUARY 24th

Grade Three

The Grade Three bowlers ventured to Blacktown to open the season against the players from Blacktown Workers. A pre-match meeting set the players on track and they opened brightly to set up a solid lead after 21 ends. As expected, the Blacktown bowlers came back at the Bowral boys and had reduced the lead by the 42nd end. The Bowral fours steadied, held their nerve and rounded out an excellent victory by 67 – 51 shots. Results for each of the fours were

Ash Lewis, Nathan Boyers, Kev Stafford, Mick Spong 25   V   Blacktown 13

Al McGhee, Dave Coltman, Stephen Della, Dugald Braithwaite 28   V   Blacktown 19

Terry Butt, Greg Lewis, Mick Anderson, Mick Armstrong 14   V   Blacktown 19

With this excellent result, Bowral secured 9 competition points to 1 for Blacktown. Great stuff!

Next Saturday March 2nd, Grade Three will be home to the team from Campbelltown. Bowl well again!

Grade Six

The Grade Six team opened the season as hosts to the Camden Rams. All three Bowral fours opened well and the team led well on the Board. Despite all three then finding themselves locked in tight games, Bowral maintained a lead on the ‘big’ Board. Unfortunately for Bowral, late in the matches Camden secured three 3’s and a four to edge to the overall lead. This they maintained to take out the victory by 58 – 55. Results for each of the fours were

Graham Hunt, Jim Neely, Gail Fraser, Gordon Lewis   24   V   Camden  19

Arny Lenczuk, Lynne Boshier, Reta South, Bob Edwards   17  V  Camden 16

Noel Fraser, Terry Norwood, Clive Neutze, Bob Crowley   14  V  Camden 23

The overall result was 8 competition points for Camden and 2 for Bowral.

On Saturday next March 2nd the team travels to Taralga to take on the ‘Tigers’ on their tricky turf.
