Round six of the Pennant competition was played on Saturday and three games of Club Championship Pairs were played on Sunday.
Bowral’s results in the pennants were one win and two loses. The Grade 2 team were defeated by Wallacia by 9 points to 1. The score in favour of Wallacia was 82-36. Mick Spong and team were the one win with a 21-15 win over a team lead by Lovett-Jeans. Mick Armstrong team lost 12-27 and the Josh Woodcock team lost by 40-3. The Grade 2 ladder has Blacktown Workers leading narrowly on 43 points to Wallacia’s 40.5. Third is Glenbrook on 31.5 with Bowral 5th on 22.5 point.
The Bowral 73 team were up against the ladder leaders Campbelltown. The leaders proved too strong with a 75-48 win with the points 10-0. Mikw Holmewood and team came closest to a win losing by three shots 16-19. Clive Neutze and team lost 20-27 and Dan Ticehurst went down by 29 shots to 12. The Bowral 732 faired better playing against Picton and using the advantage of the speed of the synthetic green. They won by 9.5 shots to 0.5 and scores of 69 to 38 shots. Don Chapman team had a good win by 26-13 and Bob Edwards came out even with both teams on 17 shots. Bob’s team managed three shots on the last end to come from a three shot defiecit to obtain the tie. The Staples team had an easier game as Picton arrived one player short and therefore played three against four. Bowral won 26-8. The grade 7 section 3 laddder sees Campbelltown with a comfortable lead of 56.5 to Bargo on 40 and Bowral 732 on 29.5. The Bowral 73 team has 13 points.
In the Club Championship Pairs played on Sunday the teams of Billy Meredith and Peter Morales and Carl Spilker and Nathan Boyers advanced as their opponents forfeited. Mick Spong and Josh Woodcock had a comfortable win 35-5 over Bob Crowley and Alaister McGhee. A comfortable win also for Stehen Della and Dugald Braithwaite by 31-17 over Chris Forrester, who was playing in his first Championship match, and Mick Flynn. Closest game of the morning was Eric Willacy and Paul Leverett against Noel Fraser and Jim Neely. This resulted in a win for Eric and Paul by 22-13 shots. The quater final will be played on Sunday 28th April at 10am and the draw/schedule is shown below.
