MVMGC Week 4

Week 4 was played on Wednesday 24th July 2019.  A brisk, but lovely afternoon for bowls.  This weeks winner of the $100 prize donated by the Moss Vale Motor Group was Richard Denman and Mick Flynn with 30 shots.  They defeated Ted McFee (sub for Peter Morales)and Brian Porter 30-11.The match between Graham Hunt with Bob Edwards and Dan Ticehurst with Josh Woodcock could not be played.  Unfortunately Dan Ticehurst was in hospital.  We wish him a speedy recovery and return to the bowling green.  Josh Woodcock was Holidaying in Thailand. As a result Bob’s team received average points of 22 shots.  This is enough to maintain their lead of the competition with 105 shots.  Mick Flynns winning score allowed them to close the gap to one shot with 104 shots.  Second last week, the Bill Pope John Cummings team has slipped to third on 96 shots.  John Cummings was absent and was sub’ by Chris Forrester and they lost to Jim Starky (sub for Brian Elliott) and Barry Werfel 17-23.  Equal fourth is the Edwards team and Holmewood team.  I mentioned last week the Edwards team with reference to consistent scoring.  This they continued to achieve with a 26-23 win over Owen Williams (sub for Billy Meredith)and Gordon Lewis.  Keith Edwards and Don Weller now have a total of 92 shots.  Also on 92 shots are Robin Staples and Mike Holmewood who lost 27-20 to Kevin Stafford (man of the match) and Carl Spilker who are back in the hunt with 89 shots total.  In other matches John Edmonds and Don Coleman were only 2 shots off the prize money with a 28-14 win over Kel Limbrick and Dave Riddell.  In the final match Kevin Jones with Bob Crowley 26 defeated Ken Looke and Brian Payne 13.  Ken and Brian were early leaders of the competition but have slipped back to 79 shots.  Next week the chase will be on to catch leaders Bob Edwards and Mick Flynn.
