Consistency Singles Semi Final

Wednesday 18th September was a miserable day weather wise.  Cold with an almost constant drizzle.  Those members who turned up to bowls were not showing too much enthusiasm.  Eventually it was decided to postpone the consistency singles and 8 brave and hardy players ventured out for a game.  Do not know if the games were completed as I departed for home.

By mutual agreement the semi final was played on Friday morning.  Unfortunately Keith Edwards was forced to forfeit his semi final due to health reasons.  A shame, as he has been playing well.  Bob Edwards therefore advances to the final.. The other semi was between Mick Flynn and Steve Day with Mick having a 8 shot start.  The game started well for Mick who jumped out to a 19-3 lead after 3 ends.  Steve quickly redressed the gap and by end 10 they were level on 46 shots each.  With very little to choice between the players, by end 20 Steve lead by 1 shot at 95-94.  Next end Mick leveled the scores 101 each.   The tide turned with Steve scoring a maximum 10 shots and without losing another end he went on to record a 150-121 shot win.  The Final will be played on Wednesday 25th September between Bob Edwards on a 9 shot handicap and Steve Day on an 11 shot handicap.  Should be a very good match.  If you are not playing come down to watch.
