Club Championship Triples.

On a freezing  cold day with gale force winds the Bowral Club Championship Triples got under way on Saturday 22nd August 2020.  The two matches which were delayed from the previous weekend due to rain were played on the Saturday morning,   The team of Noel Fraser, Jim Neely and Nathan Boyers had a comfortable win by 27-6 over Tony Oates, Gordon Lewis and Bob Crowley.  The other match was much tighter with the Peter Morales team with Keith Edwards (sub for Peter Leseur) and  Clive Neutze up against Chris Barritt-Eyles skipping with Ashley Lewis and Alistair McGhee. An even start to the match saw a 4-4 score after 6 ends.  Chris”team then scored the better to ease out to a 17-8 lead helped by a 4 shot score on the 14 end.   One shot each over the next two ends and the the Peter team staged a comeback and scored 8 shots over the next five ends so that at end 20 they trailed by two shots ar 17-19.  Last end and Peter and team scored 5 shots to secure a great 22-19 win.

In the afternoon Peter now with Dan Ticehurst substituting for Keith were up against the other morning winners the Nathan Boyers team.  Score was 11-6 in favour off Nathan when illness forced the Morales team to forfeit.  A shame after such a great morning victory.  In the other three afternoon matches Eric Willacy, Josh Woodcock and Paul Leverett had an comfortable win over Brian Payne, Kel Limbrick and Glen Geise by 35-6.  Not quite as comfortable, but a win by 23 shots to 11 saw Robin Staples, Mike Holmewood and Kevin Stafford move onward  defeating Ted McPhee , Brian Porter and Bob Edwards.  This game was very tight until the eleventh end with Kevin leading by one shot 11-10.  However, on the next end they scored five shots to break open the game and allow them to go on to the 23-11 win.  The final game saw two very strong teams up against each other.  Oscar Wahlin. Stephen Della and Dugald Braithwaite against Graham Hunt. David Coltman and Carl Spilker.  A very low scoring game took place with other than one 4 shot end to Carl most of the other ends were by one shot only.  Dugald lead 7-4 after 8 ends.  At end 16 they still lead 15-10.  Carl won the next fours ends but were restricted to only one shot on each of these ends so that on end 20 they trailed by one shot 15-14.  Another very tight end with a measure required to decide the end. One shot to Dugald allowed him and his team to scrape home 16-14.  Both semi final and final will be played next Saturday 29th August with the semi finals starting at 0930.  Kevin Stafford and team with play Nathan Boyers’ team and Dugald Braithwaite  team to play the Paul Leverett team.
