Oh dear, more weekend rain.

Saturday 31st October.  The Bowls Coordinator tried hard to achieve progress with the current Club events but the weather won in the end.  Saturday was scheduled for the second round of the Senior Singles.  Clive Neutze moved into the quarter finals after his opponent failed to turn up.  The other matches started but after a few ends of play the heavens opened, the rink flooded, and play was abandoned for the day.

Progress scores on the matches that did start are as follows.  Kel Limbrick took an early 3-1 lead against Gordon Lewis but by end six when play was suspended Gordon had moved to a 6-3 lead.  Ted McPhee allowed Mike Holmewood 2 shots on the first end but then won the next four ends to lead 7-2.  With play moving very quickly Peter Morales and Rick Reynolds managed 6 ends and Peter is comfortably ahead 11-3 thanks to an end of 4 shots and two of 3 shots.  The last couple of games moved at a slower pace and each played 4 ends.  Keith Edwards won all 4 ends against Terry Norwood and leads 7-0.  Noel Fraser has the edge over Robin Staples.  Each player won 2 ends but Noel leads 3-2.  Matches, and we hope the weather is kinder, will continue next Saturday with play continuing from the score achieved when play was abandoned.

Sunday 1st November was scheduled for the first round of the Mixed Pairs.  Last week the start of this event was rained off and this Sunday was no kinder with not a bowl being delivered and play again abandoned until next week.

Last Saturday 24th August Picton Bowling club hosted Zone 5 Singles Finals.  Bowral Bowling Club was represented in these finals by Dugald Braithwaite.  Once again the weather was not kind and based on the Zone website it would appear that play in the Zone 5 Singles was abandoned with Dugald on 8 shots and his opponent, Luke Fleming from Austral Bowling club on 7 shots.  For some reason it seems that the other two Zone Singles matches were completed.  Camden Mens Bowling Club was well represented with a player in both finals.  In the 2020 Reserve Singles Final Shane Davis of Wisemans Ferry won 31-7 against Dennis Crouch of Camden.  Better luck for Camden in the 2020 Senior Singles were John Budden had a one shot win,31-30 against Paul Faorlin of Blacktown Workers.  With the Mixed Pairs cancelled at Bowral a busload of supporters were ready to set off for Picton to watch the resumption of play in the Zone Singles Final and support Dugald.  Latest news indicates that Luke Fleming of Austral is the Zone 5 Singles Champion with a close win over Dugald 31-25.  Despite the loss congratulations to Dugald for a fine effort to make the final.
