Greens Update

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and are enjoying all the best in the New Year.  Our family were heading to my daughters for Christmas Eve and Brother for Christmas celebrations.  As they are living in the Northern and Southern parts of the Northern Beaches all those plans fell apart.  Still, a nice quiet Christmas was had in Bowral.  Meanwhile, back at Bowral  Bowling Club what news do we have on the greens.  As planned, the Springetts green started it’s renovation on Monday 21st December with a top dressing.  We have had plenty of cloud and rain to start the green back to health.  However, it seems that good as the rain was, we now need lots of sun to spur on the growth.  The green was planned to be back in operation by the end of January but if we do not have lots of lovely sun then it may be delayed as much as the middle of February.  The North, synthetic green is booked in for the 18th of January after the carpet was lifted by the huge downpour on Wednesday 16th December.  I gather there are a couple of options, either just to repair damage to the under surface and relay carpet or to remove some of the drainage base which has caused so much trouble and replace .  The Board will meet to decide, but which ever option is taken the work is planned to start on Monday 18th January and should take a week to complete.  So hopefully back to bowls by the end of January.  No mention yet if we will be required to supply manpower for carpet rolling but I am sure we will be informed if this is necessary.  Seem to remember prior to Christmas mention was made of a pennant trial game on 23rd January.  If I hear any news on this fixture I will post it on the website.  Since there is no bowls I have been reduced to taking photos of the family pets.
