Competition Starts again Next Week.

Following the long Covid break, bowling has settled down at Bowral Bowling Club.  The weather has also improved markedly after those wet and windy days just after the Club reopened.  With the nice weather numbers have improved.  Last Wednesday, 27th October there were approximately thirty six bowlers and a similar good number for social bowls on Saturday 30th October.  Glen Geise has been doing a great job while the  Bowls Co-ordinator is away with the games running smoothly.  Next weekend is a return to competition with the semi final and final of the Club Minor Triples. On Saturday 6th November the first semi final is Alex Lamb, Gordon Lewis and Glynn Phillips against Keith Edwards, Glen Geise and Peter Morales.  Second Semi final, with both teams playing their first game is Peter Cornwall, Viv Gear and Brian Porter against Andy Connors, Terry Butt and Carl Spilker.  The two winners will play the final next day, Sunday, with a 10 am start.

Sunday, 31st October the delayed Club AGM was held.  Enough of the usual members who attend turned up to allow the meeting to go ahead.   The news from the Board was very positive with the finances of the Club going well despite the lock down.  Also appears to be plenty of plans for the future including live music every other Sunday.  Booking for “bare foot bowls”are also very good.  Major news for bowlers was the official announcement the the back green will be re-turfed with Tifdwarf grass.  The green has already been poisoned and will be completed by March 31st 2022!  A great win for those in the Club who have campaigned so strongly against the synthetic.  However, having the synthetic all weather green may be of great benefit if it has to accommodate “bare foot bowls”, croquet and ladies and men’s social bowls when there is a hint of rain around or the grass  greens are being prepared for Zone or similar events which are being planned.
