It was an excellent performance by the Bowral team to get to the final, while congratulations deservedly go to the Penrith four for taking out the championship.

GRADE SIX PENNANT TRIALS
Two in-house trial matches were played on Saturday as part of the selection process for the grade six pennant teams who will play their first competition game against Taralga on February 25th.
On rink 7, Graham Hartnup, Tony Oakes, Gail Fraser and skipper Gordon Lewis took on Noel Fraser, Peter Cornwell, Rita South and Dave Coultman. This was one of those extraordinary games where the team winning by far the more ends didn’t finish up in front on the scorecard. Gordon’s team won fourteen of the twenty-one ends, including ten of the last eleven ends but finished the game one shot behind. In the back half of the game, Dave kept calling for bowls in the head, but except for one end, his team couldn’t get inside their opponents. The final score in favour of Team Coultman was 22 – 21.
In the second pennant trial match, Elizabeth Hall, Terry Norwood, Graham Hunt and skipper Bob Crowley battled it out against Lyn Boshier, Richard Denman, Ian Crow and Bob Edwards. This was a very close game with only three shots separating the teams after the twenty-one ends. At the end, Bob Crowley’s team won eleven ends to the ten won by Bob Edwards’ team. There was only one three shot score, six twos and fourteen singles – a very tight game indeed. Close all the way, Team Crowley had edged to a two shot lead of 15 – 13 with one end remaining. On a very short final end, they took one shot and victory by three.
SOCIAL BOWLS
Five eager bowlers turned out for a game of social bowls on Saturday. With Keith Edwards as swing bowler, Rick Reynolds and Don Chapman took on Graham Denman and Arnold Lenczuk. Leading 9 – 2 after six ends and then 14 – 4 after eight, skipper Don and his team had their feet on the throats of the opposition very early in the game. Matters didn’t improve for Arnold and his team as the game progressed and at 25 – 10 behind they were reaching for the canister of oxygen! When Arnie finally surrendered after twenty ends the score was 29 – 11.
