BOWLING SATURDAY MARCH 25th (Terry Norwood reporting)
Saturday saw the continuation of the pennants competition for both the Grade Two and Grade Six teams. Grade Two played host to the team from Austral while the Grade Six team travelled to Campbelltown to take on the ‘Ghosts’. Although the weather forecast for both venues was not very encouraging, both matches were fully completed.
Grade Two
Unfortunately for Bowral, all three sides finished on the low-side of the scorecard and the overall result was a disappointing 70 shots to 42 in favour of Austral. Early on, two of the sides held solid leads, but, in the end, were run down by their Austral opponents. This result meant that Austral took all ten competition points from the match and left Bowral propping up the competition on 1.5 points. As we have now reached the halfway stage of the competition, there are still four matches still to be played. Hopefully the Bulls can find top form and finish with a blaze of glory. A victory at home against St Marys next Saturday will be great way to start a winning streak. Four wins would make a huge difference to their position on the final table. The result in each of the games was:
Ash Lewis, Terry Butt, Kevin Stafford, Mick Anderson 11 Vs Austral 28
Stephen Della, Steven Goddard, Mick Spong, Mick Armstrong 15 Vs Austral 21
Gordon Lewis, Jim Neely, Carl Spilker, Nathan Boyers 16 Vs Austral 21
Grade Six
The Sixes fared a little better than the Twos, but still found themselves on the wrong side of the ledger as far as the total scores were concerned. Despite winning one of the three games, Bowral finished behind Campbelltown on the overall score at 49 to 55. There were only six shots difference in the end, but it only takes one shot to be a winner. As far as competition points were concerned, the Campbelltown Ghosts scored 9 while Bowral could manage only one. With this result, the Sixes remain in last place in the competition with just three points. The team travels to Taralga next Saturday to take on the ‘Tigers’, and given the history of tackling Taralga at home, this will be a tough match. The result in each of the games against Campbelltown was:
Reta South, Terry Norwood, Clive Neutze, Bob Crowley 19 Vs Campbelltown 17
Graham Hunt, Ian Crow, Gail Fraser, Tony Oakes 16 Vs Campbelltown 21
Noel Fraser, Ted McPhee, Dave Coltman, Al McGhee 14 Vs Campbelltown 17
Bob Crowley’s in fine form and inspired his four to a win!
