RSL Shield Competition
Saturday August saw the commencement of the RSL Shield competition, an event spread over three weeks and including Fours the first week, Singles and Triples the second week and Pairs the final week. The winning team will be the one that accumulates the most shots over the three days of competition. So it’s all about scoring as many shots as possible!
Before play commenced, the teams were formed by randomly matching pairs nominated from the higher ranked group with those from the lower ranked group of players. This led to the teams being formed of
Bob Edwards, Dave Charlesworth, Stephen Day and skip Steven Goddard
Graham Hunt, Terry Norwood, Dave Coltman and skip Al McGhee
Mick Flynn, Peter Flight, Stephen Della and skip Ash Lewis
Arnold Lenczuk, Ted McPhee, Gordon Lewis and skip Bob Crowley
The results of the first round Fours matches were
Team Lewis 35 Vs Team McGhee 19
Team Crowley 19 Vs Team Goddard 17
As this was the first round, those are the totals that each of the teams takes into the second round.
Round two on Saturday August 24th, with each team having a different opponent, will see
i. Singles matches between
Mick Flynn (for team Lewis) Vs Arnie Lenczuk (for team Crowley)
Bob Edwards (for team Goddard Vs Graham Hunt (for team McGhee)
ii. Triples matches between
