Our usual scribe, Terry Norwood is on holiday enjoying the gracious life aboard the Queen Elizabeth, lucky fellow.  So in his absence we will do what we can to keep you informed of bowls activity.  This first report is courtesy of Gordon Lewis who has for years quietly been doing a major service for the Bowling Club by sending these reports to the local newspapers.

 

Busy week for bowlers quarter finals and semi finals for mixed pair

has been decided Saturday 19th October at Bowral bowling club.

Quarter finals mixed pairs.

Jim Neely and Gail Fraser defeated Lynne Boshier and Arnold Lenczuk 21-16.

This was one match close until the last few ends.

After nine ends the scores locked at 6-6. At the half way mark Neely and Fraser had gained the the lead 9-7 after eleven ends.

But they came down with a crash on the 13th end when Boshier and Lenczuk picked up six shots for them to take the lead 13-10.

And after 15 ends with Boshier and Lenczuk clinging on to a 14-11 lead the winner still hard to pick.

>Neely and Fraser then played three ends of perfectly wighted bowls to pick up eight shots and at the finish came away with five shot win.

Alice Moore Richard Denman defeated Helen Lees and Dennis Lees 21-17.

The Lees had a sparkling start going to 9-0 lead after seven ends.

Moore and Denman the powered their way back into the match scoring 13shots on five ends to take the lead 13-9 at the finish Moore and Denman came away with a four shot win.

Gordon Lewis and Slyvia Handley defeated Ian Duncan and Elizabeth Shepherd 24-12.

After eight ends scores locked at 6-6.

Lewis and Handley won five ends in a row to give them a 15-8 lead.

At the finish they moved into the semifinals with a twelve shot win.

Sunday 20th October.

The semifinals played off the mixed pairs Jim Neely and Gail Fraser

defeated Alice Moore and Richard Denman 26-18.

Gordon Lewis and Slyvia Handley defeated Dave Cosgrove and Caro Allomes 33-11.

The final of the mixed pairs will be played this Saturday 26 th October commencing at 12. 30 pm. Between Jim Neely and Gail Fraser v Gordon Lewis and Slyvia Handley.

Other results Rookie singles.

Wal Markow defeated Dennis Lees 25-15.

Russell Dunstan defeated Ian Duncan 27-22.
