The first round of the Club Handicap Pairs was played on the weekend of the 4/5th of August 2019.  Sunday morning and Harold Wall (sub for Dan Ticehurst) and Alistair McGhee played Mick Flynn and Nathan Boyers.  The Alistair team had a 6 shot handicap lead but were pegged back to lose 21-28 to Mick and Nathan.

In the other match Peter Watson and Peter Morales took a 9 shot handicap lead into their match with Bob Crowley and Robin Staples.  After ten ends the Peters lead 15-10.  A spurt by the Staples team saw them draw level on the twelth end  but to lose the lead again so that on the fifteenth they were one shot behind.  The next four ends to Bob and Robin and they lead 22-17 on the nineteenth end.  One shot to the Peters on end twenty and they needed four shots to tie and five to win on the last end.  With a fantastic last end they achieved this with five shots next to the jack and a well deserved come from behind win.  Best of luck to the winners in the next round.
