Five matches in the Club Minor Singles were played over the weekend of the 29/30th June 2019. On Saturday Peter Watson played Alastair McGhee. An even start saw both players on 7 shots after 8 ends. Alastair won the next 4 ends to take the score to 17-7. The tables turned again and Peter won 5 of the next 6 ends to close the score to 18-15. From this point onwards Peter only won one end and Alastair ran out winner 31-16. The match between Richard Denman and Bob Crowley was closer. Richard took the early lead but Bob came back to lead 7-4 after 6 ends. With 3 shots on the next end Richard held a 8-7 lead. From here to the end of the game both players won 11 ends, however the difference was that Bob scored more shots when he won the end and he won the game 31-23. The match between Brian Porter and Kel Limbrick was over in 21 ends with Brian a comfortable winner 31-8.
Two matches were also played on Sunday which are quarter finals. Do not have details of the matches other than Carl Spilker defeated Oscar Wahlin 31-14 and Bob Crowley defeated Kevin Jones 31-9. I also note that all three markers on Saturday were not entered in the competition and at least one on Sunday, very nice for those entered who were once obliged to be a marker as conditions of entry.
