The remaining quarter final game and the semi finals were completed on Sunday 4th November at Bowral Bowling Club.
The quarter final between Brian Porter with Rita South and Enid Brown with Don Coleman had previously been suspended due to rain. The score when the players came off was 7 shots to Enid/Don and 6 shots to Brian/Rita. On Sunday morning the match continued from this point and remained as close right to the final end. Enid/Don started with a four shot end. Brian/Rita then slowly closed the gap so at 15 ends the score was 14 shots all. Two ends later the Brian/Rita team took the lead with scores level again at 18 ends. Enid/Don took 3 shots on the next two ends and on the final end Brian/Rita required 3 shots to draw even. They scored 1 shot with the match going to Enid/Don 19-17. A very close match and great to see Brian Porter back on the green so soon after coming out of hospital.
After lunch Enid and Don were back on the rink to play the semi final against Gail Fraser and Jim Neely. This match was won by Gail and Jim 23-15. No doubt Enid and Don slept well Sunday night after a long day on the rinks.
In the other semi final Fran Post with Ashley Lewis played Pam Woods with Robin Staples. This was a closely fought match. The winning edge was the Fran/Ashley teams ability to convert the ends. This was shown in the first two ends. On the first end Pam/Robin held 3 shots when the bowl from Ashley trailed the jack back to his waiting 4 bowls. A 7 shot turn around. Next end Ashley converted a 2 shot deficit to a 1 shot score. Those 5 shots were the difference in the game as over the next 19 end both teams scored 13 shots. So a win to the Fran/Ashley team 18-13.
The final is to be played on Wednesday 14th November and will be between Gail Fraser with Jim Neely and Fran Post with Ashley Lewis. i believe both teams have won the event previously so if should be a good tussle.
