Wednesday 6th November was quarter final day for the Club Senior Singles.  Unfortunately Peter Watson forfeited his match against Kevin Jones.  Peter has been playing well so it was a pity he could not play.  Kevin advances to the semi final to play Mike Holmewood.  Mike was up against Bob Edwards who gave him a hard fought game.  Conditions were fine and warm, but a tricky North West wind made grass choice sometimes difficult.  Bob got away to a good start with six shots in the first three ends.  After eight ends Bob led 8-4 but a poor nineth end allowed Mike four shots.  Bob just kept ahead and on end eighteen was leading 15-13.  This was a bit of a turning point as Mike had the advantage from here onwards.  He won ten of the next sixteen ends to win 31-24.  In the top half of the draw Viv Gear played Eric Willacy.  The win went to Eric by 31-21.  Eric came out of the blocks well and after only three ends lead 7-0.  Viv closed the gap but three ends of maximum four shots to Eric rather swung the balance in his favour.  Eric meets Robin Staples in his semi final.  Robin won over a dertermined Mick Flynn who put up a great fight.  The score was close through out the match   After seventeen ends Robin lead by one shot at 15-14, and then pulled away slightly to a 23-17 lead.  Mick fought hard, won the next four ends, and closed the gap to 23-21.  Robin’s turn next, and he won the next five ends to run out winner 31-21.  A hard fought match.  Semi finals next Wednesday.

Shortly the Southern Highland Cup will be played between Bundanoon, Robertson and Bowral, as well as the Crowe Breening Trophy between the latter two teams.  For Club members not familiar with the event I have included below the conditions of play and also the team selection for round one on the 16th November 2019.  Sorry if the attachment is not as clear as it might be.
