Consistency Singles

The quarter finals of the Bowral Bowling Club Consistency Singles were played on Wednesday 19th September.  The first match was between Kevin Jones and Brian Porter.  The participants had agreed to play this game on Saturday 22nd September.  However, the change of date was not allowed so unfortunately Keven Jones moves forward by forfeit.

Match two was between Owen Williams and Mick Flynn.  Both players are off the same handicap of 13 so it was effectively a scratch game.  Mick Flynn scored 6-4 on the first end to take a lead that was never relinquished.  It took 24 ends for Mick Flynn to run out winner 154-84.

Game three saw Peter Morales against Peter Watson.  With Peter  Watson being new to bowls it was always going to a hard road as he only received 1 shot start from the experienced Peter Morales.  Peter Watson was in front for the first six ends, then dropped 9 shots and dropped behind.   The gap was never very large until end 24 when Morales scored a 10 to make the score 125-98.  Watson had a late surge to close the score but ended up losing 151-130.

Final game was Keith Edwards against another fairly new player Ed Meester.  Keith was fortunate enough to have a 1 shot start which shows how well Ed has been playing.  Experience came to the fore, with Keith never getting behind to move into the semi final with a 154-128 win.

Semi finals next week will be between Kevin Jones and Mick flynn and Peter Morales and Keith Edwards.  See “Draws and Results” for the draw details.
