Consistency Singles

The Quarter  Finals of the Consistency Singles were played on Wednesday 11th September 2019.  The gales from the weekend had passed onwards leaving Wednesday sunny and pleasantly warm.  Excellent weather for the quarter finals.

Dave Riddell played Mick Flynn.  With Mick’s very generous handicap Dave had to give him an eight shot start.  From the score card it would seem that Dave failed to find the form of his earlier rounds and only won two ends allowing Mick to secure a comfortable win 150-62 shots.  Match two was Steve Day against Clive Neutze.  The closes match of the day with just 10 shots the difference at the finish.  With both players on a handicap of 11 it was a scratch contest.  After ten ends Clive lead 52-48.  At 20 ends Steve had taken over the lead, courtesy of two 9 shot and one 8 shots ends and lead 105-95.  Next two ends saw the lead increase to 121-99 after Steve scored a 7 and a 9 shots.  Clive had the better of the final seven ends but was unable to close the gap, finishing 10 shots short at 150-140.  Rick Reynolds had a 4 shot advantage over Keith Edwards who was on 11 shot handicap.  Keith removed the handicap within two ends and was never troubled on his way to a 150-78 shot victory.  This included two maximum scores and three 9 shot ends, a comprehensive win.  Finally John Edmonds versus Bob Edwards.  John took a 12 shot advantage into this game with Bob on a 9 shot handicap.  It took Bob ten ends to remove his starting deficiet and gain the lead 45-43.  From end 11 to 16 Bob either won on tied the end with the result that at end16 he lead 90-76.  John won a couple of ends leading to the finish, but the rest of the game was mainly in Bob’s favour who ran out winner 153-105.

So Wednesday 18th September will be the Semi Finals with Mick Flynn (13) to play Steve Day (11)  and Bob Edwards (9) to play Keith Edwards (13).
