Dugald Braithwaite wins Singles

The Final of the Club Championship Singles was played on Sunday morning, the 7th April.  Finalists were Dugald Braithwaite and Oscar Wahlin.  Result was a 31-14 victory to Dugald.  I watched the first part of the match and it was of high quality with very tight heads.  Even in the early staged it appeared that Dugald had the edge with slightly more consistent grouping and more accurate defensive shots.  So not surprising that he moved on to a 31-14 shot win.  However, congratulations to Oscar for reaching the final of the Club’s major event in only his second full year of bowls.  Deserved promotion to the grade 2 team will only enhance his performance and we will be seeing a lot more of Oscar in finals.  Thanks as always to Dan Ticehurst for organizing the event, to Gordon Lewis for marking the final and Stephen Della for umpiring.  The win continues a successful year in singles for Dugald having recently reached the semi finals of the Zone 5 singles competition.
