With the temperature guage failing to climb above 7 degrees centigrade and a bitter Westerly wind taking the “chill factor” down to near zero, Bowral Bowling Club hoped to regain the annual tropjy from Beecroft Bowling Club. Beecroft arrived with 18 players for the match. Following a short morning warm up (if that is the appropriate wording) and lunch, play got under way with six games of triples.
Christie Williams, Alistair McGhee and Josh Woodcock won 24-6
Alison Pryce, Noel Fraser and Paul Leverett won 20-11
Elaine Jones, Gordon Lewis and Stephen Della won 16-10
Brian Porter, Robin Staples and Gail Fraser lost 12-8
Richard Denman, Enid Brown and Carl Spilker lost 17-10
Lynne Boshier, Owen Williams and Nathan Boyers lost 15-7.
Everyone was happy to limit the games to 15 ends. Three games each, but as the result was decided by shots scored, Bowral won 85-73. Great to see the Trophy return to Bowral. This year our team was boosted by six players from the top grade mens team and if they play again next year at Beecroft we may be able to retain the trophy. Thanks again to Dan Ticehurst and Beecroft Bowls Secretary John Vanderlight for all their hard work which made an enjoyable day possible.
