Good Weekend for Bowral in Pennants

Bowral had good results in the pennant round played on the 27th April 2019.  The grade 2 team was away to Glenbrook.  This match resulted in a 9-1 win for Bowral.  Team captains are not listed on the Zone website but Bowral had  24-18 and 22-19 wins and a 17-18 shot loss.  Overall score was Bowral 63 and Glenbrook 55.  Bowral are 4th on the ladder with 31.5 points, 1 point behind Glenbrook.  Blacktown lead on 53 points from Wallacia on 50.5.

The Bowral 73 team had an excellent win over Camden by 72-48 and 9-1 on the point score.  Gordon Lewis returned to skip one of the teams and had a big win 31-15.  Clive Neutze and team also won well with a 25-12 score.  Dan Ticehurst team lost 16-21.

The Bowral 732 lost a cliffhanger by one shot at Campbelltown with the score 58-57.  You could say this was the match that got away as Bowral lead by around 12 shots for most of the game.  The green was extremely quick and Bowral seemed to handle the pace better than the home Club.  Possibly the synthetic green with it’s constant good pace giving the advantage.  However the lead disapeared after 55 ends with the Staples team losing 11 shots in four ends and the Mc Ghee team having a 6 shot against end.  Don Chapman team ended even on 17 shots, McGhee team lost 17-23 and Staples team won 23-17.  The Grade 7 section 3 ladder has Campbelltown comfortable leaders on 65 points from Bargo, who won 9-1 at Picton, on 49 points.  Bowral 732 are 31, Picton 22.5 and Bowral 73 on 22 points.  The two Bowral teams play each other next weekend and it will be interesting to see if the current good form of the 73 team can result in a win and a closing of the points gap.
