The Bowral Bowling Club Handicap Pairs Final was played on Saturday 11th June 2022.  The match featured Skipper Kevin Stafford (Handicap 4) and Terry Butt (14) against Skipper Mick Flynn (14) and Peter Morales (12).  Terry and Mick would seem to have enjoyed their generous handicaps of 14 to reach the final of these handicap pairs. Mick and Peter had a combined handicap of 26 while Terry and Kevin at 18 placed them 8 shots behind at the start of the game .

While the sun was shining on a somewhat cool day the major influence was a stiff South West breeze which made conditions challenging.  These conditions did not seem to bother Terry and Kevin and they had a comfortable win.  The 8 shot handicap was quickly erased and the match ended after 18 ends with Terry and Kevin having an unassailable lead of 35-11 shots.  While the winners were undeniably the favourites I am sure that Peter and Mick are disappointed that the final result was not closer.  Congratulations to all competitors and well done Terry and Kevin.

Saturday morning there was another well attended Pennant training  session.  Despite the long weekend 15 bowlers were in attendance though the better players were noticeably absent.

In the afternoon a three game two bowl triples competition was held with the added attraction for some of cash prizes on offer.  Twenty four bowlers attended after the usual multiple phone calls from Glen Giese (Stand in Bowls Secretary) to fill in the gaps.  A very pleasant surprise winners were Terry Norwood, Glen Giese and Bob Crowley.  They had two wins, 11-4 and 9-8, and a 9 all draw.  On second thoughts, not really a surprise as all three players have been bowling very well of late.  Second was a more fancied team of Peter Cornwell, Stephen Della and Carl Spilker.  Their score card read two wins and one loss with a margin of plus 6 shots.  Another excellent effort from the third placed team of Graham Hartnup, Ian Crow and Richard Denman.  Graham Hartnup has only recently started playing bowls and I imagine this is his first competition with a terrific result.  Richard Denman also reached the semi finals of the Handicap Pairs last week so is also having a good run.

Nominations have now closed for the Minor Triples, the draw should be on the notice board and first round is due to be played next Saturday 18th June 2022.
