Sunday 15th December 2019 was finals day for the Bowral Club Handicap Singles. The final was played between Mick Flynn and Carl Spilker. Carl played of a handicap of 10 and gave three shots to Mick who was off 13. The competition resulted in a win for Carl by 31-16. I watched the first part of the game and while Mick was playing well and getting bowls close to the jack, Carl was playing that little bit more consistently and grouping his bowls just a little closer to the jack. Mick was hampered in the game by a troublesome foot which while not causing a problem with the delivery would have been an ever constant worry. Mick can be well pleased with his performance in the Handicap Singles having some excellent wins on his way to the final especially over Josh Woodcock and Nathan Boyers. Carl can congratulate himself on an excellent season. Highlightwould be winning the Zone 5 Rookie Pairs and coming close to winning the State Title. Having firmly established himself in the Club top team he skippered the winning team in the Club Championship Fours and also won the Minor Singles. A great year of bowling, Well done Carl.
Christmas has nearly arrived, so I do not expect anymore news until the New Year. Thanks again to those members of the Club who have spent so much of their time making bowls happen for all the other Club members. And to everyone, have a Happy Christmas and all the best in the New Year.
