The annual Tulip Time event was held on the 21st September. The Bowral Mens Committee had done a lot of work to ensure a good entry. Teams arrived from Queanbeyan, Robertson, Bundanoon, and as far away as Neutral Bay and Clovelly. Twenty teams were present, not quite as good as the Ladies Club twenty eight, but a good turn out none the less. The Wallacia team cancelled at the very last minute, so thanks to those Bowral members who filled in the gaps with very little pre warning. Thanks as always to those few who do so much to ensure the event runs smoothly, notably Carl Spilker, Dan Ticehurst and Chairman Bob Crowley.
The two Qeanbeyan teams scooped the pool coming first and second. Winners were Sean Robertson with Ryan Spiteri and Phil Jeffries. Second Scot Dagwell, Rhys Spiteri and Leigh Penman. To win these events the team needs to win all three games which the Queanbeyan teams managed, the win going to Sean with the better margin of 33 to 27. One other team won all three games and this was mainly a Bowral team. Their margin was 26, only 1 shot behind second place. Dugald Braithwaite skipped this team with Oscar Wahlin and Kevin Stafford from Bargo. Kevin and Oscar have recently finished first in the Club RSL Shield so are on a winning run. Another Bowral player who has been achieving excellent results is Peter Morales who with the help of John Edmonds and Richard Denman had two wins and a draw to come fourth. Fifth the two Micks, Spong and Armstrong with visitor J Bugden, sixth a team of visitors lead by M Scarcella, Seventh Graham Vale from Gosford City with Bowral’s Peter Watson and Robin Staples. Eight and ninth were the visitors from Robertson lead by Graham Tutt and I Dradum. The forcast showers did arrive in the afternoon during game three but perseverance allowed all matches to be completed. I am sure I can speak for everyone, a good day was had by all.
