Pennants Results Week Three

Sunday 24th March  at Austral Bowling Club saw the semi finals and final of the Zone 5 Championship Singles.  Bowral was represented in the semi final by Dugald Braithwaite.   His opponent was Jeff Smith who ran out the winner 31 shots to 12.  A great effort from Dugald to reach the semi final and added to Mick Spong and Mick Armstrong reaching the final of the Zone 5 Pairs great results for Bowral Bowling Club.

Week three of the 2019 Pennants competition took place on Saturday 23rd March.  In the Grade 2  Bowral was playing away at Austral.  The result was a 9-1 win to Austral who scored 64 shots to Bowral 51.  I understand Mick Armstrong’s team won 21-20 while the other two teams both lost 22-18.  Bowral is currently 5th on the Grade 2 table with 1 point.  A couple of wins next week should bring them back into contention.

Bowral 7’s won at home!  Not surprising as Bowral 72 team played the Bowra 732 team.  This latter side won 78-44 and won all three rinks for a 10-0 win.  In the match between Don Chapman and Milke Holmewood scores were even throughout the game.  With two ends to play Don lead 21-15 but lost 5 shots on the last two ends to scrape home by one shot.  Bob Edwards’ team played Dan Ticehurst and team.  Final score was 24-19 to Bob’s team. At the half way point Bob was doen 10 shots to 12.  At 15 ends down 14-17, crawled back to level the scores 18 all on the 18th end and followed this with 6 shots on the next two ends and going on to win 24-19.  In the final game all the players in the Staples team contributed to run out good winners 33-5.  In other games in the grade7 section 3, Picton beat Camden 57-55 for a 9-1 win and Bargo lost it’s unbeaten record goind down 64-62 against Campbelltown with another 9-1 score.  The table has Bargo on top with 20 points from Bowral 732 and Campbelltown on 18, though Bowral 732 has a game in hand.  Picton is 4th on 12 points.  Next weekend both Bowral teams have two games as the washed out round 2 will be played on Sunday 31st March as well as round 4 with Bowral 72 at home to Bargo and Bowral 732 away to Camden.
