RSL Shield Round Two

September 12th 2020 at Bowral Bowling Club saw the completion of round two of the RSL Shield.  No surprises here with the two teams with the bare minimum 25 shot handicaps running first and second.  Ashley Lewis with probably the third lowest handicap is third and Gail Fraser made a major jump forward to fourth thanks to Jim Neely’s 51 shot total in his singles match.

Gail had a 24-14 shot win over Don Coleman’s team in the triples.  Elaine Jones and her team continue with their excellent tournament, beating Brian Porter by 20-17 while Enid Brown and Colin Stone had a close tussle with Colin winning 28-27.  This place Elaine in a creditable sixth position.  Fifth position is Carl Spilker and team.  Carl ‘s triples team lost to Robin Staples and team by 15-19 but Glyn Phillips more than made up for this loss by beating Keith Edwards 30-17 though Keith also defended well.  So Dulgald Braithwaite leads, his lead Oscar Wahlin having a 38-17 win over Glen Geise and Dugald triple team winning 36-14 over Clive Neutze and team.  Almost as heavy scoring from Mick Spong.  His lead Stephen Della accumulating 34 shots to 18 against Bob Edwards while Mick won 29-11 against the Ted McPhee  team.  Ashley Lewis in third place had a strong team to play skipped by David Coltman.  In the singles a bit of a surprise as Ashley’s lead Alistair McGhee had an excellent win over Kevin Stafford by a good margin of 38-21   Ashley also helped his team into third position with a 29-12 win over David.   Final week next week with two games of pairs for each team.  Dugald leads Mick by 7 shots with Ashley a further 4 shots behind and Gail 3 shots adrift of Ashley.
