Both semi finals of the Handicap Singles were played on Saturday 29th September. Carl Spilker and Dugald Braithwaite played in the morning and the other match was played in the afternoon.
Both matches featured players with similar handicaps. Carl started on 12 shots and Dugald on 3 shots. in the other game Noel Fraser was off a handicap of 11 and Kevin Stafford off 3 shots.
In the morning game Dugald came out firing, winning the first six ends (including a four) and wiped out his handicap deficit to be 15-12. Then it was Carl’s turn who then won eight of the next twelve ends to lead 25-24 at the eighteenth end. Once again the match turned, this time in favour of Dugald who won the next four ends to win 31-25.
In the afternoon game it was Noel Fraser who had a great start, winning eight of the first nine ends. This extended his handicap start so that he lead 21-5. Kevin then started his fight back and won eight ends on a row to trail by one shot 22-21. From then onwards the game swung back in favour of Noel with Kevin only winning two of the next eight ends and Noel coming out winner 31-24.
Final will therefore be between Dugald Braithwaite (3) and Noel Fraser (11).
