Wednesday 23rd October 2019.  First round of Bowral Club Senior Singles.

A warm afternoon with the matches on the Springett Green (grass).  Following watering on Tuesday the green was playing at a comfortable speed which was a change from Saturday when it was lightening fast.  Five Senior Singles matches were played.  On rink 1 an upset as Mike Holmewood defeated Ashley Lewis. The score was 31-24 with Mike starting off really well going to a 10-5 lead.  At end sixteen the scores were level at 16-16.  Then Mike slowly pulled away again to his 31-24 win.  A great effort as Ashley is one of the best players in the Club and always hard to beat.  On rink 2  a second round match was played as Harold Wall forfeited and as both Clive Neutze and Mick Flynn were available they played the next round.  A comfortable win to Mick by 31-11.  Maybe Clive found the sudden transition from Marker to playing a bit disturbing. However, Mick dominated the game to move into the quarter final.  Next match was Kel Limbrick and Kevin Jones.  This was another relatively easy victory going the way of Kevin Jones by 31-10.  Rick Reynolds played Gordon Lewis on rink 5.  Gordon is always a hard player to beat so it is a credit to Rick Reynolds that in a tight game he came out winner by 31-25.  Scoring was even with 5 all score after 5 ends, 12 all at 14 ends, 17 all at 22 ends, 18 all at 24ends.  Then the pendulum swung in favour of Rick who won 7 of the next 10 ends to win 31-25.  Finally on rink 6 Peter Morales played Robin Staples.  For the first 23 ends neither player scored more than two shots which indicated a close game.  Peter started the better, carrying on his recent good form.  At13 ends he lead 11-6.  Four ends to Robin saw him take a one shot lead at end 18 with the score 12-11.  Two shots to Peter next end saw his score strike the dreaded 13 shots.  It proved difficult for Peter to break the hoodoo as Robin won the seven ends to lead 24-13.  A come back for Peter saw the defiecit reduced to 27-22.  However, going down four shots on the next end allowed Robin to win 31-22.  Next round Wednesday 30th October 2019.
