Round one of the Southern Highland Cup was held on Saturday 19th February.  Teams did not appear on the notice board until Thursday evening prior so notification was obviously by phone.  Teams selected were pairs,  Stephen Della and Kevin Stafford.  Triples, Alistair McGhee, Dugald Braithwaite and Garry Brown.  Fours, Andy Connor, Terry Butt, Carl Spilker and Nathan Boyers.  On Saturday David Coltman replaced Kevin Stafford (I saw him hobbling around the Club on Saturday so presumably a foot injury.  Hope he has a speedy recovery).  In the Fours, Terry Butt moved to lead and Bob Crowley replaced Andy Connor.

In the Pairs Stephen and David won both of the games played.  (From memory two games of 9 ends are played with a tie breaker if the score is even).  Triples game one resulted in a tie.  Game two was a  win to Bowral in another closely contested game.  Finally the Fours resulted in a Bowral win in the first game and a loss in the second.  The tie breaker saw a comfortable win for Bowral.  Overall a win to Bowral in an away game which is always a challenge at Bundanoon.  Round 2 will be played at Bowral next week 26th February against Robertson.  Final at Robertson on the 12th March.

A good attendance for social bowls on Wednesday 16th February with 34 bowlers present.  Also quite a good turn out on Saturday 19th February with 18 bowlers.

As indicated four Club events have been posted on the Club notice board.  These events are the Consistency Singles, Handicap Singles, Mixed Pairs and Handicap Pairs.  Full information (a copy of what is on the board) is shown in the “Draws and Results” section of the Men’s Bowling Club  section on this website.  The Consistency Singles entries closed on Sunday 20th February after being on the board for 3 days and first round scheduled to start 3 days later on Wednesday 23rd February!!  Glen indicated this might be rushing the event just a little bit (yes) and he might allow an additional week so a few more entries may appear.  This should also give time for the handicaps to appear as this is a handicap event.  While talking of entries, the Mixed Pairs entries close next Sunday 27th February so if you wish to enter you had better not delay.  Handicap Singles close 12th March and Handicap Pairs 9th April. With these last three events there is the usual two weeks before the first round.
