A highly successful Bowral Bowling Club Two Bowl Triples event was held on Saturday 17th October 2020. Covid restrictions threw a couple of spanners in the works. This event would originally have been part of the Tulip Festival celebrations and was delayed further from the original date of 26th September due to more Covid restrictions. Despite these setbacks a full field of 28 teams were there on the day to take part in the event. Teams came from all over NSW and The Capital Territory and included many high quality players. This was the first major event run by new Bowls Co-ordinator Carl Spilker and the organization was faultless with the weather playing it’s part after a gloomy start. First place and $1500 was won by the Mount Lewis team of B Prideaux, A Batterman and Skipper D Jeffery. This team won all three matches, as did three other teams, but had the best margin by a long way of 55 shots.
Second from St Johns Park with three wins and a margin of 34 shots were Chris Herdon, Ben Gray and Skipper Mathew Peterson.
Of the other two teams with three wins their margins were 15 shots and 11 shots. Third place with the better margin of 15 shots was the Bowral team of Skipper Mick Armstrong with Stephen Della and Kevin Stafford.
Bowral Bowling Club had seven other teams in the competition. brief results are as follows. Russell Knight with a composite team was 14th place. Fifteenth was the Josh Woodcock team and next spot Tom DeGreenlaw playing with family members from Camberra. Dugald Braithwaite team was in 19th position while David Coltman was in 23rd on the table. Final two spots were Kevin Gould (who we consider a member) and Bob Crowley.
The trophy for this event has been renamed “The Dan Ticehurst Spring Time Triples” in appreciation of all the hard work that Dan Ticehurst has put in over the last two and a half years holding the fort as Bowls Secretary. Thanks Dan.
