Weather Continues to Disrupt.

So summer has ended, and a pretty awful summer it was too.  Unfortunately Autumn has not started any better.  As a result bowling activities have been severely effected.  So not a great deal to report.

The Southern Highland Cup round 3 should have been played at Robertson on Saturday 5th March.  If this match was completed then the final featuring Robertson, Bundanoon and Bowral should take place at Robertson on Saturday 12th March.  The Bowral Club visit to Beecroft succumbed  to the rain and was postponed until approximately early April.  Details will be on the board when these are finalized.  The Bowral Womens Bowling Club Charity day is on Tuesday 8th March at 0930 start.  The notice says rain or shine and with the forcast not good I hope the rain stays away for this event.  Entries closed on the 4th March.  Another event to be delayed by the rain is the Consistency Singles.  First round was due on Wednesday 2nd March but rain caused cancellation of all play on this day so the first round will now be on Wednesday 9th March.

The Mixed Pairs entries have closed and the draw is on the Board.  First round is Sunday 13th March at 10am.  Just three games in the first round and the quarter finals will be played on the following Sunday.  In one of these games the finalists from the last Mixed Pairs again face each other.  Champions Jim Neely and Gail Fraser against Elaine Jones and Bob Edwards.  A one point margin last time so we hope for another close game.  Also in the first round are Julie Hayden with Kevin Stafford and they look the most likely pair to reach the final from the top half of the draw.

You still have a few days in which to enter for the Handicap Singles with entries closing on the 12th March and the first round on March 26th.

The final event open for entries is the Handicap Pairs  which closes in a month on April 9th and first round to be played on the 23rd April.

Although Beecroft was cancelled due to the wet weather on Saturday 5th march at Bowral it was rain free and as we are lucky enough to have a synthetic green 18 social bowlers turned up for a pleasant afternoon of bowling.  Closest game was Neville Tanner and Don Coleman who needed a 22nd end to defeat Tony Oakes and Bob Edward 20-19 shots.  The other games all had winning scores in the thirties.  Harold Wall and Barry Werfel were comfortable winners 38-11 over Graham Denman and Arnold Luczcuh.  Richard Denman and Owen Williams 36 defeated Peter Cornwall and Ian Crowe 16 shots.  Finally Terry Norwood, Glen Giese and Peter Morales  were matched against Keith Edwards, Graham Hunt and Gordon Lewis.  A closely matched game on paper but in the event Peter’s team slid away to a 30-19 shot win.  With the weather being kinder the social bowlers were just happy to be back out on the green and playing bowls.
