Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel as the sun is shining and the forecast is good with no rain for a few days into the future.  Wednesday  27th April was yet another wet and miserable day.  All bowling at Bowral Bowling Club was cancelled including the finals of the Consistency Singles between Gordon Lewis and Bob Crowley.  This final is rescheduled for next Wednesday 4th May.

Saturday 30th April was slightly less damp and a meagre 10 social bowlers arrived to play.  At least the sun was out by the end of their games.  Terry Butt and Glen Giese versus Terry Norwood and Gordon Lewis.  A close game with Terry and Gordon coming back from 12-3 down at ten ends to lead 17-14 after 18 ends.  An excellent 3 shots to Terry and Glen on the last end saw the game end in a 18 shot draw.   Arnold Lezcuk, Richard Denman and Tony Oakes with 29 shots defeated Graham Denman, Peter Cornwall and Ian Crow 10 shots.   No play in the Handicap Singles as it appears  this event awaits Stephen Della to finish the Cof CC Pairs.

The Champion of Champion Zone 5 Pairs was played over the weekend (30th April, 1st May).  Was to be played at Campbelltown but was changed to Camden whose greens have obviously recovered from their flooding.  Bowral players Stephen Della ans Kevin Stafford had a bye in round one and in round two, Saturday afternoon, defeated Penrith by 19 shots to 15 shots.  Sunday morning  was Quarter Finals and Bowral played Wisemans Ferry team.  A comfortable win for Bowral 35-10 shots in this match.  Bowral is due to play Hazelbrook in the Semi Finals with the other Semi Wallacia and Austral.  No results given for this match so I am not sure if it was played Sunday afternoon or scheduled for next week.  Good to see Zone 5 have now placed results on their website.

Finally the Notice of Event for the Minor Triples  has been placed on the notice board and will soon appear on this website.  Note that another notice on the board states that the Handicap Pairs and Minor Triples will be delayed by two weeks with Handicap Pairs to start 21st May and Minor triples on 18th June.  Also on the Notice Board is the Notice of Meeting about the Pennants for Saturday 7th May.  Most members will have received an excellent email from President Bob Crowley about this meeting.  Note also there will be no further Bowls News until the end of May due holidays.
