Club Minor Pairs Decided

Over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of May 2021 both the semi final and final of the Bowral Club Minor Pairs were completed.  Saturday saw the two semi finals played.  In the first game Terry Norwood and Clive Neutze were against Graham Hunt and Bob Edwards.  I understand that Graham Hunt played a blinder helping his team to a 31-10 win,  Terry and Clive were away the better from the start and took a 5-3 lead after 6 ends.  Then they rather fell apart and allowed 13 shots to the opposition over the next 3 ends.  Over the next 9 ends they only won I end  so that Graham and Bob ended up comfortable winners.  The second semi was a little closer.  Bob Crowley and Glynn Phillips against Ted McPhee and Chris Forrester.  Bob and Glynn had a good lead after 10 ends by 12-3.   At the three quarter point they still lead 16-8 and in control.  Three high scoring ends to Ted and Chris where they scored 8 shots helped make the score more respectable but Bob and Glynn ran out the winners 22 shots to 16 shots.

The final was played on Sunday morning and featured Bob Crowley and Glynn Phillips against Graham Hunt and Bob Edwards.  Glynn and Bob would have to have been considered the favourites on paper.  With the match under way Bob and Graham won the first 7 ends and took a 8-0 lead. Unfortunately over the next 4 ends they lost scores of 5,4,1 and a 6 to see their lead disappear to be 16-8 down.  While Bob and Graham picked up 2 shots next end they then lost 7 shots the following end and the writing was on the wall with Bob and Glynn leading 23-10.  Maintaining their winning form Bob and Glynn won the final by 32-13.  Well done Graham and Bob, it is always satisfying to reach a final and congratulations to Bob and Glynn for becoming the Bowral Club Minor Pairs Champions.
