Dan Ticehurst Remembered.

It was with great sadness that members of Bowral Bowling Club learned of the passing of Dan Ticehurst on Thursday 20th May 2021.  Dan had been a member of Bowral Bowling Club for many years.  An accomplished bowler, he was of valued member of any team in which he played.  A notable achievement, indicating how well he played, was that partnered with Don Chapman he reached the final of the Bowral Club Championship Pairs in May of 2019. While an excellent bowler, most members will remember Dan for the three years of dedicated work that he did on behalf of the bowlers as Bowls Secretary. Supremely efficient, club events ran like clockwork while Dan was in charge.  After three years of unstinting work Dan retired in September of 2020 due to ill health.  Gordon Lewis’s report for the local paper sums up the high regard that was held for Dan with comments from the Chairman and president.

“Stephen Della spoke glowingly of Dan’s work as Secretary and wished him well for the future”.

President of the Men’s Club, Bob Crowley, thanked Dan for his tireless work and his dedication to the promotion of the sport of bowls.

Gordon Lewis summed up by saying “He has been a tireless worker for seven days a week and undeniably will be missed from this role”.

At the time of his retirement from Bowls Secretary it was announced that an annual Triples tournament would be named after Dan and would be called the Dan Ticehurst Triples Tournament.

On behalf of Bowral Bowling club our condolences go out to Dan’s wife Sue and his family at this sad time.  Dan will always be remembered at Bowral bowling club.
